During the days 8 to 10 of October 2019, we participated in the XXII World Cluster Conference of TCI, organized by TCI in Antwerp, Belgium. Carlos Tarrasón, CEO of Cluster Consulting, made a presentation on the 3rd day with the experience of the company on the following topic: "Clustering to develop new and better strategies in Latin America". 

 

 
 
 

On October 3rd, 2019, an event was held for the second presentation of the "Dairy Cluster in Cajamarca" project in Perú. Carlos Tarrasón presented and validated the strategy for the future of the cluster based on information from the national market research and international benchmark which included a reference trip to France. The project, which is being developed by Cluster Consulting, is an initiative of the Peruvian institutions CEDEPAS, COREMYPE and Innóvate Perú.

 
 

On September 5th, 2019, SEBRAE MG hold, together with the TCI Network and support of Cluster Consulting, an event focused on "Best practices and policies of competitiveness and innovation". The event was held in Belo Horizonte, MG, seeking to strengthen ties between institutions and regions. The institutions presented were SPRI - Basque Country, Innpulsa - Colombia and Bogota Chamber of Commerce - Colombia. The three invited organizations, together with SEBRAE MG, exchanged ideas and discussed the interrelationship between competitiveness and innovation instruments and how to apply the best practices in Minas Gerais - Brazil.

 

On August 15th, 2019, Carlos Tarrasón spoke about the "Future of food and beverages: new segments and business models - Brazil vision and Global market". The presentation was part of the the "Forum SEBRAE business development", promoted by the SEBRAE, in Cuiaba, MT, Brazil.

On July 17, 2019, an event was held for the first presentation of the "Dairy Cluster in Cajamarca" project in Perú. Carlos Tarrasón presented the results of the cluster diagnosis and information about the dairy industry in Perú and the world. He also talked about the main consumer trends that affect the dairy sector and the main challenges of the dairy cluster in Cajamarca. The project, which is being developed by Cluster Consulting, is an initiative of the Peruvian institutions CEDEPAS, COREMYPE and Innóvate Perú.

On July 12, 2019, Carlos Tarrasón will speak about the "Ice Cream of the Future: new segments and business models - Brazil vision and American market". The presentation will be part of the the "Ice Cream Journey 2019", promoted by the "Associação Gaúcha das Indústrias de Gelados Comestíveis e Afins" (Agagel), in Lajeado, RS, Brazil. On June 11, 2019, an event was held for the launch of the project: "Dairy Products Cluster in Cajamarca", in Peru. The project, which is being developed by Cluster Consulting, is an initiative of the Peruvian institutions CEDEPAS, COREMYPE and Innóvavate Peru.

On June 18-19, 2019, Carlos Tarrasón conducted the first training for CEDEPAS and other institutions of the Cajamarca dairy products cluster. The training consisted of training on the policy and methodologies of clusters to train the CEDEPAS team as executing entity and also the institutional and business leaders at the beginning of the execution of the initiative to improve the competitiveness of the dairy products cluster in Cajamarca, Peru. Basic concepts were transmitted and work was done with a practical case and real examples that replicate the cluster initiative process and allow participants to participate from the beginning with full knowledge of the process.

On July 3, 2019, Carlos Tarrasón held the second training for SEBRAE-MG, this time focusing on innovation, so that the institution will be able support companies in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The capacitation consisted of a training on concepts, policies and instruments for business and regional innovation, Industry 4.0, and also included examples of successful initiatives from other countries and instruments for the strategic construction of a sector or collective.

Carlos Tarrasón presented on May 30, 2019, in Santo Domingo, the study and diagnosis of the Agricultural Chains of Dominican Republic, with the objective of increasing the competitiveness of the supply and the quality of the goods and services produced in the country and support the strategic plan of the agricultural sector. The study presents the results of the analysis of ten value chains for agricultural products in the Dominican Republic: avocado, cacao, banana, coconut, mango, pineapple, greenhouse vegetables, oriental vegetables, passion fruit and cassava. The project was carried out in partnership with the "Consejo Nacional de Competitividad" of Dominican Republic and with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

In this article, published by Carlos Tarrasón and Vinícius Dias, national and international strawberry market data are presented, as well as alternatives for more profitable and competitive productions. Production and consumption are increasing both in Brazil and in other countries, generating opportunities for small, medium and large producers. In addition, the fruit has attracted producers because of its rapid returns, since the time between growing the seedlings and harvesting is only 45 days.
